But then im not against responsible and scientifically managed hunting or harvesting of any animal. Id just like to see it well thought out and in the best long term interest of the animals and habitat.
Sustainability is a hard grail to chase, but a worthwhile one, I think.
It was always funny to me that you could import a live snake (with all of the possible ecological impacts), but not the skin of a dead one. Or when your pet snake dies, you can't turn it into a belt.

I bet if we allowed people in Florida to turn the invasive pythons into boots they'd be able to remove a lot more than by holding a "whacking day" style competition.
