Tonight, one of my female anery red spots shed her skin. I even watched her do it. Knowing she probably had come into season I put her in with the two males. The really super awesome extra bright male (both are nice, but he is nicer!) was all over her. The other male didn't seem to care. It got to the point where he was being more aggressive than I have ever seen a male garter get! He was wrapping around her, picking part of her up and slamming her back down... and he even bit her!!! It took about an hour for her to quit slapping her tail around and realize he wasn't going to let up. I heard thrashing and I peeked in the tub and of course, he was being dragged around and flipped every which way. I am really happy about this... to be able to captive breed these for the first time ever is like... WOOOO! It's a really cool feeling. Hopefully she takes and we see what pops out in a few months! afterwards there was some blood and she appeared to be totally plugged, so I am pretty sure this is the start of something good! I will cycle them in together over the next few weeks, just in case. He is not interested in the other female, neither is the other male... but they may have already mated at Richard's.... since Richard was so kind as to send me a pic of them courting! She is already feeling sort of heavy and looking thick... So possibly TWO clutches of aneries this year!

Richard... thanks AGAIN! and post some pics of those awesome little snakes I sent your way!

This is probably one of the best males I've ever owned... I remember unpacking them from the box... the females first. When I unpacked this male, he got taht crazy look in his eyes and started courting my HAND, because he must have smelled them! Here is a picture of him:

and here's the evidence!

So excited!
