Today was a very interesting day. My good friend Mark, my daughter Gabby and I had hoped to locate a couple high-red radixes but were skunked (figuratively speaking) We did travel to a couple of very small towns on some reports of red radixes. We met a few very nice people who let us on their property. One lady we met told us she had a lot of baby snakes in her yard and wanted them gone. She was going to cut the grass that night and said that many of them get killed. She said that was a good thing and she didn't care how they were gone as long as they were gone. While driving to her house I thought she probably had 1 maybe 2 snakes in her yard and that would be it.
Once there I found out she was telling the truth. In a small grassy backyard we found 17 babies and 1 gravid brown phase radix. The lady arrived a short time later and was thrilled the snakes were leaving. I marked that town on my GPS. I'll get a few photos posted tomorrow. It was a beautiful sunny day in the low 70's.
