I thought I'd start this thread for everybody with any snake or reptile related poetry.
I guess I'll start with two of my poems. Any criticism is welcome, none of my poetry is ever really finished.

Green branches conceal a fatal secret
A vicious predator waits in ambush
Rows of shiny scales cover muscle
Teeth lie between clamped jaws
Ever patient, this fierce predator lurks
Remaining read to strike and attack

Still, the coils recline in anticipation
Never stirring, they are as dead
As a forked tongue cautiously flickers
Killer of worms, terror of the pinky
Emperor of the underbrush, the world is at your mercy

I stand in the doorway
And somberly look around
I haven’t much to say
And dumbly stare at the ground

I had torn the room apart franticly
Searching for what has escaped
Still unfound, it was failingly
That I looked for my snake
