I'm new here and I'm in search of some info actually. I have found snake skins in my yard over the last several years and now I am finding snakes. Garter snakes I believe.

I live in Wilmington Delaware (USA) and I am just a mile or so from the Pennsylvania border. I found a really long one last Thursday. My son took it to a nature center near him for identification and they called it a Butler's garter.

I had written to Director at the Indiana-Perdue University and he said he doubts it was a Butler's. The snake was nearly 2 feet long with a distively triangular (diamond?) shaped head. It had the coloring found on the Butler's. Yellow stripes down the sides and an yellowish white belly.

I wrote to the Director because I had recently travelled to Ohio in my camper. I was wondering about a hitch hiker. I read the Butler's can be found in Ohio. Sorry I don't have pictures but if any one can shed some light on what I found I'd be most appreciative.
