garter snakes here are so abundant. i can go to a couple vacant lots and find 6 or 7 on any given day. but to answer your questions. ive kept 8 females and 4 males. the rest were put back. like i said instant breeding project.

hmm, trust me when I say, that 1.2 or 2.2 is honestly plenty for a breeding project... I implore you to reconsider taking that large of a chunk? what will you do with 8 litters of babies? easterns have huge litters!

ive been breeding snakes for 10 years, im well aware of the liter sizes. i supply alot of wholesalers with cb snakes to keep others from over collecting. these will eventually be released after i breed them . so everyone just save the negative comments. every single one of you own at least one snake. where did that snake come from/? ill tell you where, from a breeder like me or you caught it. either way your being hypocrits so save it.

excuse me? I for one am not being a hypocrit... because I have never taken such a large chunk of an area's population in one shot. I am not saying that the occasional wc snake is bad.. its how all of our collections are built up over long periods of time. all snakes originate from wc, I am WELL aware of that, but it still does not justify takig 10 at one shot especially in todays day and age where cb fl blues are easily attained. I never implied that you did not know the size of their litters. I simply commented on their size. your response definitely was uncalled for, no one came on here calling you a bad person, so I am sorry but you are the only one who should save it. everyone's reaction was just sheer confusion of how many you took and why you need that many.

I do not know what I would have done, but 12 newborn snakes that are removed from the wild is not as bad as it looks to my opinion.
In an area where they are abundantly present, they will have many predators. Most of them will be eaten by some other animal.
(I think that I would have held 2.2 or so, but who knows what he does in such a situation)
