    Re: Emily's Snake Thread

I was quiet with the little worm, because my grandma was in the living room(right by the kitchen) and I don't know if she would be pleased with me using one of her knives to cut up a worm I think I might get some designated worm scissors like I've read some people do on this forum.

I've never fed worms to my snakes, what happens when you cut them up? Does blood squirt out everywhere? Do the worms make any sound while they're being cut up?

Lol No, just a little blood around the head area(at least on this one, and this was my first time cutting up a worm...)and the rest just oozed out like dirt poop I mean, they are pretty much one long intestine....

Yeah...they squirm around a bit and sometimes you see a little blood...but mostly soil...worm poop...squirts out. It does feel a little horrible cutting them up...but it's for my snakes..so...

I always tell my family that there is a hell somewhere waiting for me with a bunch of giant worms with huge knives....

    Re: Emily's Snake Thread

So I went to a local head shop the other day and got a scale for Proximus("No, officer, I swear, it's for my snake!") I just weighed him today, and he weighs 27g. He's 21 in. and 27g. What do yall think about that? Should he weigh more? I think he was 17g when I took him to the vet in May.

    Re: Emily's Snake Thread

Woopsie! Never got the pic and my camera is in a box at my friends apartment I'll get a pic when I can, I'll be moving him and most of my stuff in the next couple days, so we'll see when he get's settled in.

Well I'm happy to say the baby Earthsnake officially ate two small cut up nightcrawler pieces!(I guess I'm keeping her, if she contintues to do well)Well, I didn't actually see it but I gave her 8 pieces and in the morning there were only 6 left! The bowl I put them in has curved in edges so I don't think the pieces could have cralwed out. I've tried to feed her a handful of times, but never thought to count the pieces first...

I'm calling her a her because I read they can be visually sexed the same as garter snakes. Even though she's a baby, she looks, to me, definite female. Assuming she is a she I'm calling her Virgo, after her scientific name Virginia striatula. She's been mostly active at night. Actually only active at night. I've never seen her in the day. But sometimes, I come home at night, and flip on my bedroom light, and there she is, in the middle of the cage. When I see her out I quickly do what I need with the light on and turn it back off for her She's a good girl!

So back to Proximus. I tried tricking him with some cut up nightcrawler pieces with his fish(which worked last time) and the little S.O.B. passed them all up and just ate the fish What a little brat We'll just keep trying at it...He had two pinkies today, so I know he's happy. He's out exploring right now.

P.S. Speaking of her only coming out at night I actually just saw her peeking her head out of the substrate in the light for the first time(Not exactly daytime, but "lighttime")

P.P.S. Is it ok for me to post about Virgo on this thread or do I need to just post that stuff in the "Other Pets" thread?
