Hey, got a question. I have acquired another 29 gallon tank and I will be doing some major renovating with all my snakes today. I have Stewie & Midnight, who room together. They are equal in length at about 24-26 inches long. Both Eastern Garters. And I believe both female

I also have Jesse, a Florida Blue Garter, about the same size, male, that I was thinking of housing with them now. Except for the possible outcome of more babies, is there any other reason I should explore for not putting them together? I am not brumating the 2 females (not intentionally) and I would like to put like size snakes in the same enclosures.

Boys will be boys and girls will be girls. I don't know if there's a chance at cross breeding but the convenience isn't worth the outcome. You got the extra tank so keep it in uses.

I'm somewhat of a purest. I let nature decide about that. If they cross breed because their ranges over lap thats fine but to create them in a captive setting is wrong(in my opinion) and only hurts each group. If this does happen you will be forced to keep them all and not let them breed again or be forced to put them all down. Releasing them shouldn't be an option.
It would be like me breeding T.radix and T.s.parietalis together. They live together in the wild and as far as I know haven't crossbred. If nature decides that's an option it can happen but I will keep my lines pure.

Understood. I actually have no intention of breeding at the moment. Keeping lines pure is best as you have stated.

florida blues are eastern garters unless it's a blue striped garter, t s similis. generally without brumation they won't breed.
