Here's a page of someone in Texas who's been documenting the snakes he's found. It shows a black neck above a checkered with clear neck bars. The pic of the blackneck isn't great, but I think it's relatively common for checkereds to have the neck bars like this one: https://webspace.utexas.edu/s681/webpage/LLSnakes2.html

ya i see those all the time...but mines got blotches(theyre round and got dots between em like blackneck) but yall r probavly right

Yep, that's definitely a normal checkered!!! Looks exactly like my two het granite normals!!! The blotches and all that are normal. Checkereds are just bursting with black checkers, patches, spots, dots and even squiggles! But seriously, consider it a good thing it's not a cross!!!
