Wow so nice !never see something like that absolutely amazing.
...by the way is caught this one in 1999 only 2 whites scales on the chin.
unable to reproduce .died in 2000 from illness.As far as I know she's the only melanistic garter ever caught in Quebec.
I took her out from the freezer to take pictures few years ago and she still in my freezer.!!!

I too have a dead snake in my freezer, but it's only been there since December. I'm not quite sure what to do with it.

Im suppose to send my dead garter to a well known biologist Jean-Francois Desroches for some analysis ...
I was unable to breed her with a male from a well known melanistic garter snake population from Ontario Canada.

At that time I wanted to know if she was the same type of melanistic.
What the babies will look like ...regular ,many melanistic with het,double het.I will never know.

I compare with other melanistic of my friend and she looked very much darker* than the other one.(*?).
before shedding all the strippes and the belly become bleu like her eyes .I dont know if all melanistic becomes stripped bleu before shedding??
