Lip infection?
I posted these two pictures on the 17th and someone suggested she may have a minor lip infection:

I have kept an eye on her since then and here are some pictures I took just tonight:

The corners of her mouth aren't as dark now but it still seems to be puffed out a little in the corners on the lower lip.
Can anyone tell me if this is a lip infection please?

Re: Lip infection?
Doesn't look too bad. There could just be scar tissue from the infection.
In that event the lip may always be a little puffy.
Our girl Lucky has a very small puffy area from an infection 2 years ago.
I'll try to get a photo and post it here for comparison purposes.

Re: Lip infection?
Ok thank you ![Smile](http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I will have only had her just two weeks tomorrow and I took those first pictures the second night I had her.
My brother had her for about three months before that but he never mentioned anything, I will have to ask him just to make sure also he might not have been as clued up about snakes as he let on which wouldn't surprise me at all ha ha
I used a little antiseptic solution on a cotton pad last night just in case but would like to use some proper stuff specific to snakes and this type of infection if it is an infection.
I'll call my brother tomorrow, keep a very close eye on her and check back for your pictures.
A few people had suggested some stuff to use anyway so I will have a look at that.

Re: Lip infection?
I just noticed that both the left and right puffy area is on the lower jaw area.
I don't see too many infections in the lower lip area.

Re: Lip infection?
Just be aware that the stuff our American friends recommend isn't always available in the UK. Hibiclens tends to get recommended for mouth infections, the closest I've found to it here is Alcohol-free Corodyl mouthwash.
It has some additional ingredients though, and I've not tried using it as none of our snakes have suffered an infection yet. I'm guessing that you'd be able to get an equivilent of Hibiclens from a vet, or maybe from a pharmacist, but I've not seen it on any pharmacy shelves so it may need to be prescribed. It's far easier to get things like antibiotic creams in the States as well.

Perhaps a member can buy it or something, and send a bit of of it. Nto sure if that would be "legal" but if it is, that's an option too.
