    Red face Baby Garters

Sorry its been a while since the last post. Everyone can stop worrying now. I haven't been on here for a while since giving up the babies. As much as I didn't want to I knew it was the right thing to do. I think I miss them and so does Lucifer. She has that look of "Where did all of my babies go?!". Anyway she is alright. I would love to have more when I am ready and have enough money to provide for them.

Nice to see you back on the forum. We'd love to see some photos of Lucifer(the snake)
I think you did the right thing. Babies are not an easy task and are much more time consuming then some people might think.

I have no phone/camera. Go to the forums gallery. I uploaded a picture of a garter snake that looks just like Lucifer off the internet. The only difference is the line on her back. An inch below her head it is orange and then the rest of it is yellow. Also has a prettier face. When she is in the sunlight her color is close to olive green. Also for her babies I didn't notice right away but there were some that were different. There were a couple that were darker and the stripe on their back was orange and there were some that looked like Lucifer. Their body was like an olive green and their stripe was yellow.

Thanks for the update Nickey. Just focus on Lucifer (I tend to say focus on what you can do now and don't dwell too much on things you can't change in the past), and as long as you don't put a male in with her you don't have to worry about unexpected surprises!
I don't think Lucifer is actually missing the babies. I've not experienced any of my snakes giving birth, however I do know that snakes don't tend to nurture their young and don't have an attachment to their offspring. She's probably thinking that she has a lot more space to herself. :-)

You've read the caresheet so you know what Lucifer needs to live a comfortable life, and you know you can ask any questions about Lucifer on here if you need to know anything else. Enjoy having her around.

Glad to have you back. Im glad things are working out. You did the right thing. Sometimes the right thing is the hardest thing to do, believe me i know how you feel and what you are going through and the guilty feelings that come with it, and the shame, but we swallow our pride and reach out for help, because we love our pets. Its great to see you put the babies needs before your own feelings, very commendable, and remember everything happens for a reason, even if we dont know what that reason is. Now you can concentrate more on mama, and giving her what she needs.

Again, welcome back. Tells us more about mama. What is she like, what does she like to do? Your best memory with her, etc etc.

Glad you are back. You did the right thing. As far as Lucifer missing the babies, the only thing I can tell you is about when my Willow gave birth. Once we knew she was finished we put her in a separate enclosure for a little to rest. The enclosure was right next to the babies and she never took her eyes off of them. She watched them constantly. The only time she didn't was when she ate or took a drink of water. This went on for about 3 weeks. I think they know who their babies are. I know they are self sufficient from birth, but think they have some nurture in them. Just my opinion though.
