Mine don't either. They do tend to enjoy burying themselves in damp moss or substrate from time to time and they sure like to take a dump in the water right after I clean and disinfect it and give them fresh. Without fail, they drink the fresh water and 5 minutes later, it's full of "spit"

Seen plenty of wild garters in water. Concinnus' spend lots of time in water, sitting on the surface in vegetation hoping to ambush a frog or near the waters edge basking. In captivity, mine just don't have anything to do with water other than taking a crap in it.

"This month's theme, selected by Infernalis is "Swimming Snakes ", showing your own garter snakes or wild ones in water."

This was the description of the theme for this month. I think if we had a video contest it would be easier to show them swimming, but with a still shot any swimming snake is going to look like they are soaking.

    swimming or soaking

Maybe Iīm thinking about the wrong meaning of swimming,
    because Iīm a swim coach
Never meant that the photos doesnīt fit to the theme!
    This is too blury:

but I would like to enter a photo of a snake without ground contact.

But we can't see it's tail. How do we know it's not holding on to the edge of the pool with it's tail?

I'm going to have to persuade our marcianus to swim, she's not shown any real desire for water so far. Sure, she'll slither through her pool if it's the shortest route from A to B, but she doesn't stop in it for long. I'm not even sure she's drinking, maybe she's a secret drinker.
I have two weeks to catch her in the water to enter this months contest.
