    Hi everyone

I everyone. My name is Jason, I have looked over the site for some time but just joined today. I have 4 WC Garter snakes that I found on my property in N. California. On top of them I also keep King snakes, Gopher snakes, Corn snakes and Ball Pythons and as far as non herps we have both meet and pet rabbits, chickens, a dog, lots of Ring neck doves and Parakeets. When the market allows it I work in the wood products industry, kinda a conflict of interest for me lol but it pays the bills. For fun I of course love my reptiles, I love filming and editing. I will post one of my videos below. For non herp related fun I just love spending time out on the farm, watching everything take shape each year and enjoying the fruits of my labor.

I'm not sure exactly, when I call them Common Garter Snakes I get people mad at me lol. Here is a picture of a couple of them doing their thing.

Hahaha, that was me Jason. And just for the record, I never once got mad at you. I just said I find it annoying when people call all garter snakes common garter snakes. Besides that, you probably already know, I'm a major youtube troll. I do it just for fun. I'm not really that mean, now am I guys? (wait, don't answer that) You were a good sport.

Anyway, nice to see you here. I watch your show. Now I'm seeing another great picture of your CA garters and I can say, definitely T. elegans, or "Western Terrestrial" instead of "common" and the subspecies, "Mountain Garter". (T.e. elegans) Why they call them that, I have no idea. It's not like they live only in the mountains. Heck, I'm not even sure they live at high elevations at all. We have a few people on the forum working with them. A member here recently got one very much like yours from a forum member who found it near Sacramento. Very nice looking garters.

I never call all Garter snakes common, only all the ones I find lol. These were found on my property about an hour from Sacramento. I had no intention to keep them long term but just fell in love with the things and since they have been mating like crazy earlier this year I am excited to see what I see when they give birth.
