A few pics for amphibian fans.

Went out today in search of some garters. No such luck this time, but I did find a few amphibians .

I have no idea what kind of frogs/toads these are, but here are some pictures for your enjoyment. Maybe I'll have better snake luck next time.

That's pretty much what I was going to say. I don't see any amphibians, I see snake food! The tadpoles sure look like snake foo.. I mean bullfrog larvae to me. See the little black ones? Believe it or not, it only takes about 45 days for them to get the size of those big ones.

I agree with Richard, those definitely look like bullfrog tadpoles. As for the little black ones...those are bullfrog tadpole food!

With food like that around, the garters can't be far off.

Bring me some of those! There would be a serious feeding frenzy going on if any of them could have some of that.

You can have as many as you want if you head on over to central iowa. It seemed like there were hundreds of them out where we were. I'm going out again later when it cools down a bit to try my luck again.

that is exactly what I find at the creek near my house! Cricket frogs, leopards, carpenters, and bull frog tadpoles (but no bull frogs).

The annoying thing is, THERE ARE NO GARTERS.

The green slime and other organic debris at the bottom is much easier to catch. I'm pretty sure those are bullfrog tadpoles too. That's what they look like when they first hatch.

Well, went back for round two. Little later in the day, cooled of a bit....Snakes 2 : Plissken 0. Found some more toads and frogs though. Guess I'll just have to keep at it.
