    rattlesnake roundup

i have just watched a old video i have about rattlesnakes, its great until near the end when it deals with the roundup's, it is some years since i watched this video and i remember turning it off when it came to this barbarity, but this time i forced my self to watch, has any thing changed in the years since this piece was made? the late 1980's, i cant believe the stuff i was seeing, surely laws have been introduced to protect these snakes, apart from the snakes i watched petrol being pumped into holes to force out the rattlers with no regard for the lives of any other creature that shared that burrow i watched snakes being milked of venom in front of crowds as if it was a service to humanity, when according to the commentary it was of no value what so ever,
somebody please tell me things have changed

No one should be able to mistreat any animal. The reason this kind of stuff goes on is because people are ignorant and will pay to watch it. People don't understand snakes so they think they are evil. What do you think would happen if we had a kitty cat roundup and made purses. This kind of stuff is aweful.

The people involved with the rattlesnake roundup seem like people who'd do that anyway. Change that to puppydog roundup and you might get the right reaction from them.
