    Het albino flame had babies.

The results were not very good this time.I know the male is'nt carrying any bad genes any other snake that he has bred has had excellent results. But for some reason when I pair these two together I get a lot of deformities.I had about nine babies kinked.6 of them albino flames. The other flames. All the normals look perfect. All of these will be held back until they are at least eating full pinks.I want to make sure they are healthy.I sold the male that was used so this pairing will not happen again.I'll get pics tomorrow.

Well that's disappointing. It's obvious that something bad happens when those two combine the genes necessary to produce albino flames or flames. Interesting. When you say the "normals" look perfect, what do you mean by "normal"?

Do you mean that they are not flames as well as not being albino? Are there any (or all) kinked ones alive? How bad is it? Sorry about all the questions, I'm very curious.

All the kinked ones were born alive. It's kind of disturbing. They were just a writhing mess.I took a better look this morning(they were born between 9-11pm).The deformities were 4 albino flames 2 low end flame and one normal.I got 4 healthy albino flames,3 flames,1 wierd looking one thats looks erythristic top and bottom.plus 7 more normals.

Awwwww... What a shame I had a litter like that last year... One of my checkered litters only had two babies that were healthy. All the kinked ones were alive... But were so severely deformed it was disturbing... Their body twisted around on itself and fused all together solid... Its really hard but at least you had some Healthy babies born too. How is that stubby flame doing Tom?

    Let's look at the positive...

"4 healthy albino flames, 3 flames, 1 wierd looking one thats looks erythristic top and bottom plus 7 more normals"

Must also consider the possibility that the "normals" and flames are het albino.

Not too shabby. I'd be thrilled to death if I got 4 healthy albino flames and 3 flames from a het. Beats the heck out of a pile of still borns and/or slugs!

I just don't like seeing the deformed ones. All my babies from other females are always perfect. The stubby flame is good.I think it reached its full size already. Its about twelve inches long and thick.Reminds of a mini gaboon viper. When you hold it it stiffens up like a pencil.Wierd snake!

They're small snakes then? Jeez, 12 inches? I had no idea. That's baby size. 5-6 month old radix, concinnus... anything but northwesterns. That's so small even without a tail.

He's talking about his stubby flame... last year he had a flame born that was a little different from the rest... a very short bodied... wide little thing. It looked like a garter snake trapped in a hognose's body. I got to see it as a baby in person... cute little bugger! Tom kept it just because, and still has it and apparently it's a foot long now! It probably won't grow much larger due to it's special shape
