    Heads up!!!

I just saw these on kinsnake.com, this one as well as the next 3 or so ads do not look like what they claim they are to me. They all look like forms of radix. I will let more reputable people on this site confirm or reject my claim but here is the link:

All I get at this time is "server not found" You messed up on the URL I think. Want to try that again? I can't seem to find what you're talking about.

Oh wait. I think I found it. Advertised as an eastern but the pic shows what looks to me to be an iowa albino radix.

Did you try that link at the bottom of their page? what's up with that?

Anyway, is this the ad you're talking about? kingsnake.com Classifieds: Albino Eastern Garter Snake

That snake shown in the ad is obviously an iowa strain albino radix:

Same goes here: kingsnake.com Classifieds: T Positive Albino Red Sided Garter Snakes

What is shown is a nebraska albino radix and an iowa radix. Not red sided garters.

At least they're not asking $125 +$50 shipping for a young male concinnus.

I just about had a heart attack when I saw that ad.

    Re: Heads up!!!

Thanks Richard, I posted the thread at work and the server doesn't always link properly.

The middle ad between the two you mentioned also looks like a normal radix to me.

The prices aren't outrageously misrepresented for the retail market of what they are actually selling, however it would be a slap in the face to think you were getting an amazing deal on something that is not what they claimed it to be.

"http" was in there twice. I reposted it.

I saw the normal looking one you're talking about. Pic is too darn dark to be sure but I'm leaning toward radix too.

This could just be a case where they purchased them as easterns and didn't know any better, or else, they didn't know what they were and guessed wrong.

    Hi,

I went ahead & emailed the people on this. Most people are cool when they are informed they had misidentified something but occasionly you get ripped, where they say myob or worse yet take a hike (has happend b4) ... lets hope they are the former types lol.

    Happy holidays everyone,

Ken responded back today and he said he was going to change the ads to the correct morph/species and was appreciative. He was cool about it.

    Re: Heads up!!!

Same here. (I also emailed them as soon as I saw this thread). Apparently they got them as "Iowa" albino garter snakes and they thought that "Iowa" referred to the location where they were found, then they just assumed they were eastern garters.

I explained the whole "Iowa" and "Nebraska" thing to them. They were very cool about it and appreciated our setting them straight on the ID.

"I want to thank you very much for all the information. I think I got it right now. I'm not a thamnophis expert by any means. You have been very kind. If there's anything I can ever help you with, just give me a yell. Take care.
    Thanks, Ken"
