Sex ratio for T s parietalis?

For breeding, what would be an ideal ratio for these garters? I was thinking 1.2 or 1.3 (depending on funds available at the time of purchase) so that one male wouldn't be harassing the same female all the time. However, I read somewhere that in the wild, there can be hundreds or even thousands of males to one female. But a ratio of 2.1 or 3.1 doesn't seem smart in the home terrarium.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but 1.2 or 1.3 should be good for a domestic breeding operation, yes? I have a 45g long, so I have plenty of space, if that helps any.
    So maybe I am obsessed...

Personally, I haven't needed to keep a male and a female together longer than it takes for them to court and copulate.

If you happen to have multiple males, a little competition might be good. Let there be a bit of sexual selection.

Nothing wrong with a little competition as long as both males are acceptable to you to breed.
