Florida Blue Babies- First Meals offered

The babies are now 2 days old. I offered some chopped f/t salmon last night. Some didn't eat, some ate a few pieces, and one even cleaned his plate!

After reading some horror stories about pythons and other snakes, I was afraid it would take much longer to get even one to eat f/t.

I'm so glad my passion is garters, not those silly pythons!

Hi I live a couple towns over from you...where did you get your garters? I have a cage setup and ready for my son but I can't find a reputable garter breeder anywhere

Wow, that's fast. I've never had any baby concinnus eat that soon but they tended to be born with quite a bit of yolk left, which they absorbed into their bellies within a short time after birth. Most took their first meals at 7-12 days old.

My squiggles took their first worm pieces within the first 2 days last year.

Forgot to mention, only one of mine was born with yolk. "Woody" was the one we thought was was stillborn and then when he lived, we thought he was kinked, but he straightened out just fine. There was a wood chip stuck to the yolk sac, hence his name. Then we were concerned, our only experience with anything that still had yolk at the time of hatching was a baby beardie who died within 24 hours. Well, Woody isn't the heartiest eater, but he sure is fine, and thriving!

I'm really glad they're taking the pinky parts, seems to make all the difference in their growth.

And thanks, Steve, and Good work, LeAnn!!!!!
