    Babies, Babies & more Babies!!!

Our W/C Eastern, Stewie had babies this afternoon. We didn't know that she was gravid, we actually weren't 100% sure she was female. We came home to at least 9 little scrubs that we have counted so far. Upon inspection, there have been no stillborns and no jellybeans. They are so cute with their big snakey eyes! Midnight looks an awful lot like Stewie, so now I'm beginning to wonder if we may be having more...

Mom had 2 large pinkies this evening, so I think she is done having them. Midnight has not eaten which is odd, she usually eats at least 4 or 5 pinkies. Maybe tomorrow will bring many more squigglies

Babies are the best. Enjoy. Just my opinion but I would offer food as soon as tomorrow. I feed babies twice a day for the first month or so. I only let non-eaters go 1 week then I bust out the guppies. Good luck and let's see some pictures. My opinion is only based on radixes.

Your opinion has worked for me so far. I will try the scrubs on earthworms tomorrow and see who goes for it.

If I get some that are not interested in the scrumptious meal I will have prepared, then I will resort to guppies and/or baby trout!

Be sure those worms are in some dirt. You want the babies to go hunting for them. They like to dig even if they are not looking for food.

I promise there will be pictures later today. My husband and I have an appt. this morning.

I wanted to ask, do I just get some really small worms for the babies or do I cut them up and/or mix with salmon? What is the best baby food to offer?

I try to find some earthworms. The small pale looking ones. If you use cut up nightcrawlers you don't want the dirt mixed in.
I try to get them on the most natural and probable food they would find. Once they are eating steadily and well over the "Failure to Thrive" issue, I try to switch food to things like safe fish, or pinky parts. Good luck. Can't wait to see some photos but I guess I have to.
