    Newborns

My female Florida garter just had babies...about 3 hours ago! Is there anything I should do immediately or in the near future for them? At last count, there were 10 babies. Should they stay with their mother or should they all go in a seperate cage? Should they individually go in seperate cages or all of the babies together? There are also two other females in the same cage as the mother and the babies. Should I put them in a different cage? I would greatly appreciate any help, as I have never had newborn garter snakes before. Thanks!

Separate the babies from the adults, split them into smaller groups, wait a couple of days and then start offering them food.

    Congratulations and welcome aboard.

Interesting mine just had babies too! I only see one so far but the female is probably young or she just started. I'll have to take it or them out. there maybe more on the way or I maybe I am just not seeing them. mine are eastern garters from here in RI . I am assuming she was pregnant when I caught her or maybe I have a male and female together and they bred? I caught them in late June. really unsure of what to do now Totally suprised by this development
