    little strange

My garter had his head and neck/upperbody in the waterbowl and i went to pour a little more water in to top it off. well the little stream of water rained on his head and instead of slithering away he moved straight up into the stream and was biting at it. usually they come to the bowl when i pour water but they arn't usually in the bowl. he wasn't jumpy or anything afterward just moving around the bowl like usual.

was he just really thirsty?? they have two bowls...

Don't worry about it he was either thirsty ... or wanted to show the invading torrent of water who was boss

When you say 'biting' do you mean that he was being aggressive or that he was flexing his jaw as they do when they drink?

I've never seen one do anything like that. Sounds like what a dog does to play in the water from a hose. If I'm adding water they will come out and watch or go in for a swim, in the hopes there's more than just water going in.

I cleaned the water bowl the other day and poured water into it. Stewie came out from her house, waited for me to finish, and the my daughter and I actually got to watch her drink from the bowl! That was a first for me. It was so cool!

feeding response? doesn't sound unusual or like an overly-thirsty snake.
