    First Snake

I found a snake today and i was wondering if anyone had any pointers for what to keep it in (i have a five and a ten gallon tank,) what to feed it, stuff like that... I also would like to know what kind of garter snake it is, i will attach pictures so ya... Um we live in Utah about thirty miles away from the Great Salt Lake if that helps with identifying it... Thanks

Ugh... i can't seem to be able to post a picture so i will try to describe it (ok we will call it Darcy)... anyway... Darcy has an olive-ish base, he has a white stripe down the middle of his back (i don't actually know if it's a boy but it reminds me of a boy ) anyways... he has a black head and his pattern looks like a Checkered Garter snake, but the are more round than square... I was thinking he is a Western Terrestrial (if that is how you spell it) but it's a weird name so i thought i better double check. So that is Darcy if you need more info (or if you can tell me how to get a picture on here te he) just let me know. thanks

Hi Breezy, and welcome to the forum.
It certainly sounds like a vagrans from your description.
Here's a link to get you started posting photos, but the forum anti-spam software might not let you add photos until you've posted text a few more times.
