    Too much like Dad

I've hesitated to talk about this out of sheer imbarrassment. I've posted many a sentence talking about our girl Lucky. Truely, unlike any radix I've every seen or had. I've also posted about my boy Scar. A beat-up male that looks like his name. He was out of control for the first 6 months he was with us. Finally, he came to trust us and was and still is one of my favorite radixes. Scar escaped 3 months ago and hasn't been seen since.
Scar mated with Lucky(her first) and produced 12 beautiful babies.. I had hoped they would have their mothers attitude and their father's survival skills.
What I got was a bunch of striking mad snakes. I think they have rabies Maybe, Mad Radix Disease. The wildest group I've ever had and still not trusting after all this time. They eat very well but are the most unappreciative group. I've tried talking nice, that didn't work. I've tried tough love, that didn't work. I've tried ignoring them and spoiling them to no avail. They continue to be the toughest group, ever. What's a father to do. I fear for the future with these monsters around. I feel much better now that I've talked about it and hope some of you can give me some suggestions to help.

I'd say their survival skills are just right .... maybe a mild sedative

Ooooh you could use the tazer to construct and electric fence ... wiggle your fingers on one side then, as they advance to bite, their conditioning will commence

I like the way you think, Greg.
My biggest problem is the PAYBACK I would get. "Revenge is a dish best served cold" As devious as I am, they are worse and they out number me.

... on a sensible note ... do they approach you? ... could you rest your hand in the enclosre, simply on the substrate, and wait for them to get adventurous and climb on? ... I was thinking as well that advice from monitor keepers might work - introduce something that smells of you to the enclosure (like a bandana or sth similar) ... they would probably use this to hide and then associate your scent with safety

These little ones have been afforded the same if not more interaction than many of my other groups. This of course, do to the fact they are Lucky's kids. Their problems seem to be with the first contact you have with them. A lot of panic behavior, striking. Very defensive. After my hand in in there for a minute or so, some do settle down. Others will continue to strike until they get some food or get picked up. It's just very strange since no other group of babies born here have ever acted this way.

    Steve,
    You're too funny!
I have a a year old female Similis that goes wild whenever I get near her or when I clean the Viv she's in. She shows she loves me by striking at me constantly... Very ungrateful!
I also have a year old Eastern that has a similar disposition. She also show her deep appreciation for all her freshly washed descented and defrosted Pinkies she eats litterally non-stop by musking and biting me. (Out of 18 Eastern's she's the only one I have that has yet to calm down....)
I heard her tell one of her other Eastern cagemates she really likes to musk me when I approach her wearing a long-sleeve dress shirt. %$#@!
    Regards,
    Jack
