"Lucky" the first snake of the year

well, I didn't find this little fella, some people nearby called me and said they found a baby garter snake...he appeared injured. after getting there and checking him out, I am surprised he survived as long as he did. he appears to be a baby from last summer, small wandering garter.....and he appears to have a bad case of scoliosis.....how this little fella survived I don't know....but will do my best to give him a comfortable life here at my home.

I have one of those. Yours doesn't look as severe as my little guy. Something to watch for is failure to shed. Mine can't shed on his on, I have to do it for him. Let me know what I can do to help. Mine is a great joy to take care of. If at some point you don't want the little guy I would be glad to take it off your hands. I'll pay the shipping.
My Vet said that my little male probably won't make it to 1 year old. Said the scoliosis will cause breathing problems. I think that is what is occuring to mine. His lack of mobility won't allow him to shed properly. The old skin tightens up and he can't get a breath. I almost lost mine a week ago to this very situation.

if he's survived this long on his own, he's got to be pretty robust, despite the scoliosis
my vet who has some of Sammy's babies from last year tells me that the one with the severely kinked spine is the most vigorous one, the most voracious eater, and has grown to the largest size
perhaps it doesn't handicap snakes as much because their spine doesn't have to be stacked upright, supporting a ton of peripherals?
