    Peek-a-boo snake.

It was cool morning here in Iowa and my daughter Radix went out for some fresh air. I had just dumped some wood chips along one of my trees. I sat her down on the chips. "Lucky" at first soaked up some sun and then buried herself in the chip. A few moments later she popped her head out to see what was going on and I was able to get this shot. She stayed there for more than 10 minutes, enjoying the warmth and fresh air. These days are very limited here. Winters cold grip will have us at it mercy before long. She's a special little scrub and she bring joy to us all. No wonder these little guys seem invisable. How many times have they been watching us and we don't have a clue we're being watched. Hope you enjoy.

This little one has been with our family for over a year and owns us. She doesn't mind when we're around and takes no great effort to get away. If we have her outside with us she will come towards us and hang around us while we sit in the yard. She crawls up on my daughter Gabby. Here's a photo of these two best friends.

Took me awhile to find Lucky in the wood chips! Now I do wonder just how often at the park I've been under survailence and wasn't aware of it.

They can be really hard to spot outside. I usually end up finding most of the snakes I see by accident.
    Cute pictures!

Steph, you could be right! I've often - OFTEN - wondered if the bears were watching me. (shiver)
