    I just realized...

How much my garter collection has taken off this year! I wrote myself a little tally today while at work to ease the excited frenzied state I was in over getting home to my box with blacknecks in it... and it really grew!

After I recieve my shipments tomorrow and next week, my garter collection is as follows:

    0.1 Hypo Sirtalis
    1.2 Flame Sirtalis
    1.1 FL Blue Sirtalis
2.8 normal (but totally beautiful) sirtalis, babies and adults
0.1 "pumpkin" the weird baby sirtalis, born normal but is turning orange??
    0.1 Iowa Snow Radix
    0.1 Nebraska Amel Radix
    0.1 Normal Radix
2.0 Anery het both amel strain's Radix
0.1.1 parietalis (the one coming from kyle is unsexed)
    1.1 parietalis het anery
    1.1 Similis
    1.1 Fitchii
1.2 Patternless (almost no red spots) Concinnus
    1.1 Normal Concinnus
    1.1 Hypermelanistic Vagrans
    1.1 Cyrtopsis ocellatus
    0.1 Pickeringii
1.1 Sauritus x Proximus freaks (but I love them)

alls I can say is... I don't think I have enough garters

Next season, I make it my goal to add:

    infernalis (calie red sided)
atratus (santa cruz- will stop at nothing for these)
    marcianus (checkered's - just normals!)
    proximus rubrilineatus (redstripe ribbons)
    cyrtopsis cyrtopsis (western blacknecks)
    couchii (sierra)
    melanogaster (mexican black bellied)
    ordinoes (northwestern?)
    terrestris (coast garter)

    and whatever else I forgot

This is also my official announcement that I am cutting in half my collection of anything not-garter, not-ribbon, not-water snake or storeria very, very soon. And as I add more and more thamnophis, I will continue to move other species. I am very serious when I say my long term goal is to eventually work with at least 2, ideally more, of every species and subspecies I can have. haha, I AM the next Scott Felzer... in blonde-chick form!

Now... will my entire garter collection fit in my signature??? going to find out now.

Maybe if you just list the species, all in a row, with no details

That's quite a collection. Have you considered a bigger house?
    1.0 T. radix
    0.1 T. marcianus
2.5 Dogs, 19.25 Gerbils, 2.0 Cockatiels, 0.1 Rabbit, lots of fishies

    Re: I just realized...

    Nice lists,
I'd like to list mine too. (garters and ribbons only)

I havent tried to sex them since I am not breeding them, even though I could give a good guess on nearly all of them. I do the know the sex of a few because they had babies in the past, either before or after I aquired them, or because they passed jelly beans.

Shannon, I would have you tied for species/subspecies if it werent for your "freaks"

    0.0.1 California Red Sided - T. s. infernalis
    0.0.1 Valley garter - T. s. fitchi
    0.0.1 Coast Garter - T.e. terrestris
    0.0.1 Mountain Garter - T. e. elegans
    0.1.1 Northwestern Garter - T. ordinoides
    0.0.1 Checkered Garter - T. marcianus
    0.1.0 Sierra Garter - T. couchii
    0.1.0 Mount Diablo Aquatic Garter - T. a. zaxanthus

0.2.6 Gulf Coast Ribbon - Thamnophis proximus orarius

I still want a Santa Cruz - T.a. atratus. Then that about does it for me(at least with native garters) due to regulations of what I can have and how many per species. Once I find that Reptile-loving Christian Reformed wife with a fishing license we can add a T. e. vagrans and T. a. hydrophilus to the listto complete the list of 11 varieties(out of 14 total) of native garters that arent protected. The s.f, giant, and 2- striped are protected.

Omg, am I ever blonde! The idea of getting hubby and maybe even the boys fishing licenses so we can all have our bag limit never even crossed my mind... sooooooo, silver vagrans may not be out of reach after all! Hmmmm... thanks for bringing that up Loren! Now to find you that license toting, bible thumping, drop dead gorgeous woman
    Tami

Oh. Because you know, it seems to me that, aside
from being a little mentally ill, she's pretty normal.

Just remember, if you are to be really legal, the "extra snakes" will belong to those with the extra licenses. You might help care for them, but they "own" them.
In other words, my first wife didnt really want to take ownership of any extra snakes for my benefit, so it wouldnt have gone over so well with dfg if she denied owning any of them. The only reason I would want this would be for the few species of snakes that have a limit of 2, but have 3 subspecies (like wanderings- still want a vagrans myself- I mean I want someone else in my household to have one ).
