    Question SF garter snake relatives?

    Hi all,

I am new to the site! I am a student and was interested if there are any science-types out there who knew of a phylogeny for the garter snakes. I am particularly interested in the SF garter snake.

    Thanks for any help.

Welcome Justin! There are a few very knowledgeable "science-types" that should be able to help you. They don't all check in regularly, but they will eventually

What do you want to know about phylogeny?

    Re: SF garter snake relatives?

I was interested to know what the closest relative (sister taxon) to the SF garter snake is, on the species-level. I have seen a sub-species account, but nothing as to a definitive species-level phylogeny.

    Thanks again
    J

There are a lot of different consensus trees in Rossman et al. (1996) and there were a lot of further studies since then.
The closest relativ to ´infernalis should be ´validus, ´eques, or elegans depending on which kind of probe is used.
