    something dissapointing

i was out herping today at an empty unkept lot on the lake where i know i have seen some snakes b4
    anyways onto the dissapointing part
i pulled over and got off my bike then my phone rings its my GF just then this beautiful snake ( think it was a milk snake) starts slithering out from the tall grass i was like ogh $*** of course cuz i was on the phone i couldnt take a pic it started slithering away so i went after it all the while looking for a stick to try and stop it (just in case it was dangerous)
and while looking for the stick and talking to my GF it got away in the tall grass.

now onto the details so some1 can tell me what kind it is and if its dangerous
it was a very light greenish grey color with leopard like spots along its body that were orangish grey outlined with black and it was mocking a rattle snake by shaking its tail (it clearly didn't have a rattle)
but of course since it was on the run it wasn't standing its ground like a rattle snake would.
any insight on what kind of snake would be helpful so i could know if i should go backj and catch it for pics

Sounds like a Milk Snake, Kevin. Best to be sure before you grab it though!

I am very sure it wasn't dangerous. Probably a milk or rat. =D

Probably milk, possibly a juvenile racer.
