    help Identify

    found this little baby in the backyard doesn't look like the typical eastern, what do you guys think??



    these are of the same snake, he's only like maybe 8inches long.....

    after checking around it could be butler's we do have them here in northwest PA...........

    definitely not an eastern, its a shortheaded garter, thamnophis brachystoma

    I concur ... brachystoma popped into my head as soon as I saw the pic (garter sense tingling).
    Keeping - 'Florida blue' sirtalis, concinnus, infernalis, parietalis, radix, marcianus and ocellatus.

    yes indeed I totally foregot about Brachystoma, sweet my first ever I have seen....and reproducing which is a good thing here, because they are on the list for PA of protected and endangered speicies............back to the wild my little friend, and thank you guys for the help........
