Hey, New Here

Hello all! I'm new here and have recently bought a Checkered Garter Snake, I think its a girl but not sure I'll get some pics of her later when I can and maybe someone can help me tell lol.

Anywho I have a question. Yesterday I fed the snake a minnow and she ate it with no problem. Also I have some minnows swimming around in her water bowl, but after I fed her... last night she ate the 3 minnows i had in her water bowl .... so she had 4 fish in one day... is this a good or not?

Hey Randy, welcome to the forum. 4 fish shouldn't be a problem at all. Depending on the size of the snake, it might not even be enough! Feel free to ask all the questions you want.

Ok I hope your right Elliot lol. But she's only a baby maybe 10"-11" haha but maybe she was just really hungry cause petco may not have been feeding her

Hey, welcome to the forum, Randy! For the most part, she knows what's good for her...she won't eat unless she needs it!

4 fish for a 10-11" snake is fine. I would probably feed her 4 fish every three days for now. You may also want to try trout fillets, as they are thiaminase free.

Not enough fish to hurt your snake.. just like everyone else has already said. (a little more positive reinforcement)
