    African Fat Tailed Gecko

Okay so my friend is taking care of an african fat tailed gecko for his friend for 5 weeks. I'm worried that the friend that gave it to him is not giving proper care. The substrate is sand and the gecko has shedding problems (should it be something else and should he mist it? cuz you cant really mist sand) also all he uses is a heat pad and its like 75F i was thinking is should be like 85F right? with a heat lamp that gives off UV? does it need UV?

Yes, it should be around 85 degrees. Sand is also bad too, reptile carpet or something would be best. I'm pretty sure they don't need UV since they're nocturnal. Correct me if I'm wrong.

While you can use lighting to heat their habitat and to simulate daylight, they do not require any UV. As Elliot is correct. African Fat Tailed Geckos are nocturnal, much like the Leopard Gecko.

AFTs are nocturnal and don't require UV lighting. They can be kept on sand micex with cocopeat. They prefer a slightly higher humidity then leopardgeckos. A moist hide can help with his sheds.
Around 85 (29 celcius? ) sounds about right
