    Regurgitation?

One of my baby sirtalis was eating today, and she ate two small earthworms (wild caught, not red wigglers)... then she proceeded to regurgitate one of them, and started to regurgitate the second one...

She crawled around with the second regurgitated worm hanging out of her mouth, dragging it against the floor like she wanted to get rid of it, but never quite doing so.

Then she re-ingested the end that was hanging out, re-ingested the one she had upchucked, and then went on to eat a third one.

It may be that she merely ate too fast, but I did want to check with forum members to see if there is any reason to be concerned?

I have seen a nightcrawler crawl back up a garters throat before and poke its head out of her mouth... lol, she would swallow it down and he would come back... he came back up like three times!!!!

I've seen that with worms too, KITKAT. I think they are maybe just an 'uncomfortable' meal sometimes.

Worms are pretty strong.... like Shannon says, they can crawl back out, and I think sometimes they can flex inside the snakes' gut and make it regurgitate.

This has happened to me a couple of times as well. I haven't seen an ill effect later from it.

    Re: Regurgitation?

Thanks, everyone, for answers. I am working ten hour days (I wish I were being paid for the ten hours, but no, I only get 6.5).. so my time on the forum is less right now.

She kept the meal down after I posted with no problem.

Fortunately, school is done on June 9th, so I should be back to the forum more in the second week of June...
