    Hibernation & Breeding

Sorry if this has been asked, im not trying to breed or anything just wondering.

I though I read somewhere (could have been here) that the snakes will not breed if not put through their regular hibernation habits?

    Is this the case?

And do most of you hibernate your snakes? Does it cause long term issues if you do not?

    Thanks!

Hibernation does increase the chances of mating, but it's not guaranteed. Neither can you stop them from mating by not hibernating them.

Certain species reportedly do better with hibernation, but then again, hibernation does claim a victim every now and then.

    Everything that Stefan said...ditto.
I've never known of any long term problems associated with not brumating Garters, except that some will go on a self imposed hunger strike, and may lose too much weight if not brumated at this time.
