    help, problem?

ive recently stopped feeding my garters for burmation and what troubles me is when i hold the female she has skin flaps is this bad? ive only had them off feed for a bout a week, it sorta feels like theres nothing in her stomach like its sorta squishy, shes always ben on the skinnier side tho, she always did had a little skin flaps but only when i was holding her, i calculated she lost 4grams since the last time i weighed her which was like two and a half weeks, am i just being over paranoid?

    hi reed,
generally, if she's on the thin side anyway i wouldn't take her off feed. it doesn't sound like she can afford to loose any weight, but that's just my opinion.

yea, that does sound kinda bad....like a low body weight...wouldn't brumate on low body weight...post some pics. you still have some time left to fatten her up before the cold hits and you can brumate her.

your gonna have a big mess....worms go thru fast and make a big mess!!! soon as you can, get pinkie rats....feed her a couple at a time a couple times a week for a month or so...should get her up to a decent body weight.

the goldfish may be partly responsible
if I were you I'd just fatten her up with good food
if it's breeding, you're worried about, you can kick in her hormones with a very short brumation period once she's in better shape

Chicken hearts may be a good substitute to pinkie rats because its a human food source too.
I use it allways for my adult snakes in addition to fish and rodents.
