Only one type of garter snake.

I have only seen one type of garter snake around my neck of the woods! There are 3 native to Saskatchewan from what I read. I see some pics of people finding multiple sub species in one area. I am kind of jealous! Lol

It's alright, you have the T. radix in your area. I'm in the same boat and love it. If I want to T. s. parietalis (Red-Sided garter) I have to travel to the county. Radix rules the cities and Red-Sided does the country side.

The red sided garters are more south in the province. I have never seen one here.

I used to find 2 types here on LI. Easterns and Short headed. A few years back they built a bicycle path right through the Short headed habitat. Now I only see easterns. This colony of Short headeds is undocumented as far as I know.Wish they were still around.
