Re: The Differnce Between T.S.Sirtalis and T.s Pallidulus

I know this first hand how close they are in apperance.......
thats how I found this website.....there was snake under my pourch and had gotten a pic of it put it on here and we thought it looked like a meritime, but infact turned out to be an Eastern, so I can tell ya they do looks a lot alike, so I do agree though about the dorsal being faint or not even be seen on the Meritime, and I think there a bit lighter in color than an Eastern normally...........

well in a lot of cases there is no line but some i have seen ( these pictures i saw were on the internet) some that start with a line have it fade away. in some ive seen just parts of it were missing. I know there is some truth about there being an absent dorsal line. but i see where you are coming from

But in my neck of the woods - and Tigerlily's brood of 39 babies is no exception - there are plenty of T ss that are absent the dorsal line.

In her litter of 39, I would estimate there were eight.

A WC female I caught several years ago had no line, until you got to her neck, whereupon she had a very faint one. She was also gravid when caught, and had quite a few (10 of 20) that were absent dorsal lines.

there are alot of t.s.s. that don't have or are faint dorsals, I have seen them , but the Meritime like I said are normally lighter or are more kinda olive color......well thats my opinion, and what I have seen since looking into both of them.......
