    Progress!

Dart decided to take food from my hands again today! This is great news as far as I'm concerned, as I've had to plate it and leave it for weeks now.

She is in the same room as my kingsnake now, and I wonder if he scents her and is wondering why on earth I keep withholding dinner from him. (They are not in easy view of each other--I didn't want him stressing her out or anything.)

A bonus of this move is that I can peek around the door frame and catch her prowling, which is neat. As long as I don't move much, she doesn't freeze and I get to watch her explore!

It seems like she'd like climbing things, but I hesitate to give her easier access up top, you know?

I keep my garter right on top of my MBK's tank with no problem at all.

    Re: Progress!

These aren't enclosures I can stack (yet, anyway), so for now I have my MBK on top of a short book case and the Garter on top of a side table. The lower height of the garter's home makes it easier for me to handle her over it, so if she goes flying out of my hands she's at least not an escapee...

I caught her watching me do yoga this morning. Hehe.

I love these two so much it's hard not to run out and buy a third snake, but I keep telling myself that NO, I don't need THREE baby snakes right now. This is how the addiction begins...

I used to have my garter and MBK right next to each other, still had no problems. As long as you don't get them out together (which I know you won't) you should be fine

My garter was out watching me drum the other day lol I just love how curious they are.

i wanted to buy a juvenile BCI the other day while I was picking up some mice for the garter. I also saw a Blue tongue skink that I almost walked out with lol

    Re: Progress!

Someone around here has been posting a lovely pair of milk snakes on Craigslist for weeks. And someone with a pair of Dumerils. I'm surrounded by temptation.

(Never mind the lovely high red blotched? kingsnake I saw in the store, although that one was the epitome of the bitey little baby stereotype)

I swear I'm looking for a good deal on an enclosure, not another snake, but while I'm there I keep LOOKING....

The last enclosure I got I actually built out of a desk (4' x1.5' ) , which when to the king. I have like 3 empty 10g tanks around my house and a empty 29g tank. I wish I could fill them up with animals but I don't have enough space in my room for them

As far as the king stressing the garter, I've seen my turtle walk by one of the garter feeding tanks and actively try to bite them through the plastic, and the garters just stand there and watch; don't even flinch.

Well, that's good to know. She definitely reacts to ME walking by, in that she'll freeze and staaaaare.

Noodle seems far less aware of his surroundings, although I've spooked him a time or two. Of course I had to dump him out of his hide yesterday for him to realize I was trying to offer him a mouse, so... XD "Whut? Why am I out here? What's going o--OH A MOUSE." So much for that famous king feeding response in this one.

I just wave the rat in front of my kings hide and my king will viciously attack it. It makes me jump sometimes lol

my garter, when I put my hand in the enclosure, she seems to know it's not food, she will check me out and then climb up my arm. She definitely seems to be more intelligent than my king.
