Ground Level Water Dish

I always make sure my newborn scrubs have ground level watering dishes but today I saw a need for it with 2 year snake.
I have a Iowa albino (T-) T.radix that I believe is, for all practical purposes blind. I guess I never gave much thought to him having trouble getting water but apparently he did. It was time to change substrate with this group so as part of their enclosure cleaning the snakes get a bath while I prepare the new digs. As soon as I put the albino in the tub he started drinking, as if it had been a long time since one. Needless to say I've installed two ground level water dishes in the enclosure.
Might be something to keep in mind as you decide what kind of water dish you might be using.

a ground level water dish is something i thought of doing but i found it hard to find a dish big enough for the snake to soak in and big enough to stay at ground level. now im sure i could have just put more substrate in the tank and "bury" it but it still seems to make less room for Ekoh to move around in. that and he is still not in th 20g tall tank either because i dont have materials to make or buy a lid at this time, and the 20g still isnt really much bigger in my opinion

I was wondering how you can tell if your snake is drinking or not, i feed my
thamnophis elegans out of his water bowl but i dont think that counts for drinking

When you see them drinking you can't mistake it. There's a definite movement of the jaw as they take the water in and swallow it. Take a look at the link to the video that Richard posted.

If your snake is healthy looking and acting normal it's probably drinking in my opinion.
