    Unusually warm weather

So we are gonna have 3 days of 60+ degree weather here in central Ohio. What are the chances that some garters will come out of their dens during this warm streak.

We have had a couple of days in the mid 50's and 60's and a guy at work said he saw a big mudstained watersnake next to his creek yesterday!

I have snakes popping their heads out of my den when the temps are in the 40's. There's always a chance.

Cool. I'm off Sunday. Maybe I will go exploring and see if I can find some snakes to photograph.

Just finished walking around the mounds the butlers liked last spring- no snakes moving this late in the day, but there are plenty of promising looking holes again this year.

We just got done hitting record highs too, a few days ago. We had the "pineapple express" jet stream hitting us straight out of the south pacific. Got up to 57 F at my house. That changed though when the jet stream moved east. Now it's in the 30's and it snowed a bit last night.

Very good if there's plenty of sunshine. But you gotta go where they are spending the winter. They'll just come out to catch some sun, but won't move away from their den. South-facing rock piles/slopes , etc. with sun exposure are the best places to look.
