    Male Or Female?

    Anybody care to make a guess.

    Has a very nice chocolate color to it... but my guess from where the vent is at and the taper the tail has it looks female because the way the scale pattern changes immediately after the cloaca... I have noticed on most males the area after the Cloaca seems to still be striped across in smooth bands... the tail section usually looks like that section of braided scales after the cloaca.. most females are immediate into that scale patter with quick taper... and most male garters will possibly have a few more stripes and a thicker begining to the tail... and it will not taper off right away... stays about the same size after then vent for a short section then tapers...

    Why I guess female!

    Female 100%. Also, feel if the tail is bony near the cloaca. Usually females will have bonier tails than males because they do not have hemipenes. This is not 100% accurate but it will give you an idea.
