do you heat? do you use pads? heat rocks? overhead bulbs?

people always tell me, pads are better, use them, but then I'm like why? using a pad on every aquarium for me would take 5 plugs. The way I'm heating now is on my 3 tier stand I use a heat lamp, which then heat rises through to the bottom of the middle tank then heat lamp the top. On my 2 70 gallons I just have a heat lamp on the lower to heat both, 3 plugs with heat and light instead of just heat

The number of plugs doesn't bother me.
I use heat mats on stats in each viv, it gives me peace of mind that if a mat fails it's only one viv that will be cool.

I use flex watt heat (under tank heaters) and temp. controlling thermostats on all my snakes.
I use fluorescent lighting on all snakes.

I've never used under tank heating, might at some point, but I've always just use a 60 watt or 75 watt light bulb. Heats up one side of the tank to about 75-80 degrees, the other side stays room temp or a little warmer (which is good cuz my house is cold as hell)

I can't think of any advantages to under tank heating unless you have a lot of tanks, and not enough room for the bulb option

Just wanted to mention that heat rocks have a tendency to malfunction and can get extremely hot and burn your reptile.
