    How Big?

Hello everybody, I'm new to the forum.
I own 3 checkered garters one albino and was just curious to know the length and weight of a fully grown male and felmale checkered garter. I've had mine for a year and a half two eat small mice and weigh 100grams the other(the Male) weighs 50 and eats fluffs. Thanks guys

welcome to the forum. Checkered are the one species of garter I don't keep, so I'll let some real owners answer this for you.

    Re: How Big?

Hello and welcome to the forum. I currently have 1.2 albino checkereds, they were born last year and all 3 are approximately 20-22 inches long. All have been fed mostly mouse pinks in the past 6 months.

From what I've read online adults average around 28 inches long, but it all really depends on their diet and feeding frequency.

    Re: How Big?

Thanks guys what sort of weight is your fully grown female. Would you say a year and a half old female that weighs 105grams and is 24inches long is big/old enought to breed? Any tips on encouraging breeding. All 3 of my garters are housed together. Thanks

    Re: How Big?

Sorry but I've never weighed them, but they are fat. The best thing to encourage breeding is to brumate your snakes. It is best to wait until garters are at least 2-3 years old to breed them, the younger they are the smaller the litter and the higher the chance of babies being born with deformities/defects.
