    Yolk sacs?

Hi folks, looking for some advice

My T. marcianus is currently giving birth (at last! woohoo!) and have so far had 4 arrivals. 2 look great, but the other 2 still have a yolk sac attached. Is this normal? Should I worry?

Sorry if this is a daft question - first time we've bred Thamnophis

    Thanks!

I'm not an experienced breeder, but from what I've read what your describing doesn't sound unusual to me. The critical thing is whether they break out of the membrane, they should do that immediately.

Congrats on the newborns. Birthing is such a special time.
Some newborns might still have some yolk sack attached. I would not say it is normal.
Having a large amount would concern me. In those snake I've usually seen physical developmental issues. Usually an open G.I. tract.
If they look normal and the umbilical cord area looks normal I wouldn't worry about it.
Were they able to break out of the egg sack?

I wouldn't call that normal. In cases where that has happened with my litters, the young in question were born prematurely and none survived. Remaining yolk should be absorbed into the abdominal cavity before birth.
