    Signatures

    Okay guys...I keep trying to edit my signature. I have tried everything to allow me to fit in everything I want to put on there. But it simply will not let me...I always get the message that it is too long. Yet, I have looked at other members' signature that are clearly longer and contain more characters than mine. I have tried using regular font, regular text color, taking out punctuation, etc. All I want to do is put my garters' names in the signature. Help! Please! Thanks....

    Re: Signatures

    Hope this helps. Keep in mind that the spaces between the words are counted in the total character count.

    I went in and edited my signature adding lines and characters.

    This was the error message I received:

    The following errors occurred with your submission.

    Your signature cannot be longer then 400 characters including BB code markup.

    Your signature contains too many lines and must be shortened.
    You may only have up to 5 line(s). Long text may have been implicitly wrapped, causing it to be counted as multiple lines.

    HTML Code:
    [FONT=century gothic][FONT=century gothic]Marnie
    [FONT=arial]1.1.2 T[I].s.sirtalis,   [/I][/FONT][FONT=arial]1.0 T[I].marcianus,  [/I][/FONT][FONT=arial]2.1 T[I].radix,  [/I][/FONT][/FONT][FONT=century gothic][FONT=arial]1.0 T.[I]s.parietalis,  [/I][/FONT][/FONT][FONT=arial]0.1 T.[I]s.concinnus [/I][/FONT][/FONT]
    Your current signature has 313 characters. Not sure if that includes spaces.

    Re: Signatures

    Hmmm...thanks guys. I just can't figure out why other members have signatures that seem to be longer than mine...containing more characters, punctuation and such. It's odd. I have tried taking out spaces, punctuation, etc. I keep getting that same message that you got, Steve.

    Re: Signatures

    The tags (italics and font) in the code box that Stefan posted is the likely reason, that's a lot of characters.

    Re: Signatures

    I was going to say the same thing. There are a lot of excessive tags. Here's what you should do once you're on the Edit Signature page:
    1. Click on the "Switch Editor to Source Mode" button. It's the first one in the top row that is a little A and a big A.
    2. Delete some of the extra tags. Your signature should look something like this *switch all the round brackets () to square brackets []:

      (FONT=century gothic)Marnie(/font)
      (FONT=arial)1.1.2 T(I).s.sirtalis, (/I)1.0 T(I).marcianus, (/I)2.1 T(I).radix, (/I)1.0 T.(I)s.parietalis, (/I)0.1 T.(I)s.concinnus (/I)(/FONT)
    I THINK you can avoid this problem by not switching the font too many times. I believe each time you switch the font, the editor will automatically add a new tag. Alternatively, you can click the "Remove Format" button (the second from the left) before making any changes. Hopefully this works!!
