    newbie help

    hay dumb question but how can you tell if a garter is gravid becuse i think my wild caught female is and if so how can you tell when the babies will be born

    Post pictures! And it's not a dumb question. You'll see a thickness in her lower third that won't go away like a food bulge. Again. Post pictures!

    One sign is "scale spread" Usually the scales on the lower 2/3 of the body will spread apart making skin visible.

    Unless you know when mating occurred then there is no way to know. Time will tell.

    Garter snake births usually occur around 80 to 100 days after copulation depending on the species.
