    is this a Garter?

    my neighbour took this picture (my profile pic) and we are wondering if it is a garter. we live in nova scotia.

    How big was it? Was the shape of the head different than the picture is showing? (Is that a defensive pose?) The snakes you have native to that area that I could see resembling it would be the maritime... Not sure though.

    looks like an odd colored maritime garter...looked on a list of snakes of Nova Scotia... only one it could be is the Maritime garter, thamnophis sirtalis pallidus. kinda cool color too! there was a site I looked at years ago, had info on them, said there are malanistic maritimes also.

    Looks like a nice maritime garter to me! Maritimes exhibit a lot of polymorphism, meaning no two look alike. This one is quite different looking than the ones I have seen.

    People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.
