    yas olleH

    Hello every one
l'm Steven and l started out herp'ing in the mid 70's,l started with English Grass snakes and Garter snakes as most people did in those days.Garter snakes in those days where very much classed as a starter snake for people new to the hobby, only to be dropped when experience was gained, and the rights of passage was then North American Rats snakes to pythons and Boas, and then much later on with all the morphs.
But for me there was always something about garters that kept my interest so l've always had some form of Thamnophis around.and its nice to see both in England and America that the interest in garters is increasing in the hobby.
It was not always the case especially in America,in the early 80's l worked for what was then the biggest reptile importer and breeder company in Europe, they use to import garters by the 1000's at a time, they then would have all been W/C adult stock.l cannot begin to describe how many species and spp you would find in one batch!how many gravid females and the odd morph. It was clear that back in America that there could not have been much interest at the time or that they where so abundant that they let so many species and spp go for next to nothing,
Any great to be on this forum and hope to have more contact with fellow Thamnophis fans
    Regards
    Steven

People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

I would be amiss if I didn't give you a link to our forum care sheet.
Garter Snake Forum - Garter Caresheet

I for one and I'm sure many members would like to hear more about your early garter snake encounters with that import company.

Welcome to thamnophis.com Steven, with your experience I'm sure there's plenty you'll be contributing here.
It's also a lot less depressing than RFUK, where garters are a minority.

I remember feeling that I was the 'garter police' a few years back as I was running around giving advice where I could , it's been nice to see more Thamnosiasts speaking up. It can be a frustrating place.

Hello Sir Gregmonsta, you would have seen some of the feeding arguments l've been having on some of the other forums, you would not believe how many private P/M's l get from people who are to scared to go against the pack on the forums and ask for advice, its a shame that they feel that way, most of the people on rfuk have not got a clue anyway
    good to see you around
