The rocks in your set up are all looking very dangerous to me the way that you have them set up in there...they are positioned in a way that most of them can shift and fall over on your snake. Heavy objects like that must be placed flush against the glass on the bottom of the tank to keep the snake from getting underneath them and also to keep them from moving and falling on the snake and injuring it. I honestly wouldn't put that many rocks in one of my set-ups...maybe one or two small ones...but I prefer to use hides and plastic plants for the snake to hide in and climb on. Also...the wood...if you got that outside...has it been heat treated for mites? If you use wood from outside it needs to be heat treated to prevent mites from being transferred to your snake. You can make hides out of cardboard boxes and buy plastic plants at the dollar store if you don't have a lot of money to spend and still make a great home for your snake...check out this link: http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/encl...-have-fun.html

Here is a picture of one of my enclosures to give you an idea of a set-up: 001.jpg

Nice! 30 gallons is lots of room for a garter- you'll probably. Have a lot of fun customizing his 'crib'.
